It’s our profound pleasure to announce some delicious new additions to our selection of superior (if we do say so) gluten-free food products: flatbreads and tortillas!
Now, we know what you’re thinking: what makes these so different from all the other gluten-free breads and wraps out there? A lot! For starters, the texture. No dry cardboard, no crumbly mess… The snozzberries taste like snozzberries! Seriously, we spent many long years crafting the perfect recipe to satisfy your diet and your palate.
Sound like big talk? That’s because we’re pretty proud! We didn’t make them with any crazy ingredients or half-baked substitutions. Our tortillas contain organic corn flour, rice flour, egg whites and a few other familiar, easy-to-pronounce ingredients. Similarly, our flatbreads are made with brown rice flour, non-GMO canola oil, real cane sugar, teff flour and flax. No shenanigans.
We also went way beyond plain. In addition to the classic, original flavors you know and love, we’ve got a few others to choose from. Buckle up for this taste explosion…
Flatbread flavors include Parmesan & Asiago Cheese, Roasted Garlic, and Sun-dried Tomato & Herb while our Tortillas come in Santa Fe Chili and Sun-dried tomato too!
With so many (7! There are 7!) tasty options on hand, it may seem like the possibilities are endless. That’s because they are! Burritos, pizzas, sandwiches, wraps, even dessert! In case that isn’t inspiring enough, we came up with a few recipes of our own that we (taste)tested in Glutenfreeda’s kitchen to share with you right here. In this blog post! Join us as we count ’em down…
Original Tortilla – Buñuelos
We’re sure you’re familiar with the many tried-and-true uses for a good tortilla, but there are a couple new ones you should definitely try. Like dessert. Everyone loves dessert!
Take an original flavor tortilla and brush both sides with melted butter. Dust generously with a combination of cinnamon and sugar, then toss it in a low-broil oven on a cookie sheet until it’s just starting to crisp (about 5 minutes). Remove from oven and cut into triangles. Top with your choice of whipped cream, chocolate drizzle or fruit compote. It’s tasty, it’s easy, and it’s a lot better for you than a slice of double-fudge death cake. Kids will love it too!
Sun-dried Tomato Tortilla – Crunchy Salad Bowl
When you’re living gluten-free, salads pretty much become a way of life. You can always count on a good salad. But what about those days when you’re really not feeling the same old thing? Jazz it up with a homemade edible salad bowl!
Trust us, it’s too easy not to try: just grab a delicious Sun-Dried Tomato tortilla and brush it lightly with olive oil. Then, gently push tortilla into a medium-sized, oven-safe ceramic bowl. Bake at 350-degrees until it starts to turn golden brown, then remove from heat, let it cool, and when you take it out of the bowl… voilà! It retains its shape and your greens.
Santa Fe Chili Tortilla – Black Bean Quesadilla
We understand that a quesadilla isn’t a brand new concept. But, one made on a zesty corn tortilla that not only doesn’t snap in half immediately upon exposure to gravity, but is also significantly larger than your standard tea saucer is blissfully beyond ordinary.
Our favorite quesadilla filling is a vegetarian-friendly one of black beans, monterey-jack cheese, freshly minced onion and (if you’re feeling bold) some jalapeno slices. Place one Santa Fe Chili tortilla in a greased skillet over medium heat, top with filling and fold in half when cheese begins to melt. Or, if you’re really hungry, double your pleasure by sandwiching those fillings between two tortillas. Trust us, they’re heavy-duty enough to handle it.
Original Flatbread – Breakfast Panini
Love your eggs in the morning but need to take them to go? You’re in luck! Our original flatbread transforms into a dense, yummy, focaccia-esque sandwich bread when you cut it in half. Scramble some eggs, grate some cheese, grab some arugula and a few avocado slices and stack it all up. Toast in a skillet or panini press then hit the road!
Sun-dried Tomato Flatbread – Caprese Stacks
Crowd-pleaser alert: this one is really going to change your entertaining game.
Feed a group of guests at your next party with a few Sun-dried Tomato Caprese Stacks! They’re safe for your gluten-free crowd, and the wheaties will never know it’s not the typical flatbread they know so well.
Quarter a few Sun-dried Tomato flatbreads and top with a thick slice of tomato followed by a fresh basil leaf and hearty round of buffalo mozzarella. Place on a cookie sheet and bake in a 350-degree oven until cheese starts to bubble. Remove, plate, and drizzle with balsamic vinegar. Yum!
Parmesan & Asiago Flatbread – Marinara Dippers
In the same vein, if you’re looking to entertain a few guests, need a quick movie night snack, or want a fast ‘n’ easy addition to your game-day spread, try these Marinara Dippers!
Our Parmesan & Asiago Flatbread is perfect for these because you can see the cheesiness right there on the bread… ItaliYUM! Stack up a few pieces and slice them first in half, then into easy-to-handle “sticks.” Brush with olive oil (infused, if you’ve got it!) and toast in a 350-degree oven. Plate them with a dish of warm marinara sauce and watch the crowd go wild.
Roasted Garlic Flatbread – Pesto Pizza
Any one of our flatbreads make the perfect personal-sized pizza. It’s a beautiful thing. But one of our favorite recipes is a pesto-heavy delight…
Preheat your oven to (you guessed it) 350-degrees. Brush your flatbread with a hearty helping of pesto and top with fresh cherry tomato halves, mozzarella slices and shredded basil. Bake until cheese melts & enjoy!
Hot tip: unlike a lot of other gluten-free baked goods, our flatbreads don’t fall apart easily. Try making a personal pizza right on the grill for a delicious flame-broiled flavor. Our bread can take the heat.
